Question MarkWhat is the difference between Combat Survival, CKM, and Women’s CKM?

Combat Survival is a complete system comprising of 4 components:
a) Commando Krav Maga
b) Women’s Commando Krav Maga
c) Children’s Commando Krav Maga
d) Mental & Physical training

CKM is an Israeli fighting system that was designed for hand to hand combat on the battlefield and was later adapted for use on the streets for self-defense. CKM classes are co-ed, although the majority of CKM students and instructors are men.

Women’s CKM is part of the CKM system but the techniques are customized to address the specific ways in which women are attacked. For example, women are often grabbed from behind or are taken to the ground, (whereas men might be more apt to become involved in a fist fight or be grabbed in a headlock). Women’s CKM classes are for women only. The purpose of this is to provide a safe, non-intimidating environment in which to learn the techniques. However, in Women’s CKM classes, students will progress and be attacked by men so that they experience the reality of the male attacker and realize just how well the techniques work.

Question MarkCan both men and women become Women’s CKM instructors?

Absolutely! Women’s CKM classes are for women only, but men and women are welcome to apply to become Women’s CKM instructors.

Question MarkDo I have to have prior Martial Arts experience

Applicants are generally required to have 3 years of previous martial arts experience. However, on a case by case basis, there are some exceptions. It is most important that students come with an open mind and are ready to adapt to new concepts and principles. It is equally important that new instructors are passionate about imparting their knowledge and supporting women in learning to protect themselves.

Question MarkWhat kind of condition should I be in and how do I prepare for the instructors course?

As the course is physically and mentally demanding, it is highly recommended that you prepare yourself prior to attending the course. We recommend you exercise regularly, emphasizing cardio and endurance training and basic calisthenics over weight training. A healthy diet is always wise.

We also recommend you and watch the CKM DVD's (especially if you are not a certified CKM instructor) and read Security for Women, The Evolution of Empowerment.

Question MarkHow is it possible for me to become a Women’s CKM instructor in only a few days?

Women’s CKM is a system based upon simplicity and effectiveness. The techniques taught at the instructors courses must be thoroughly practiced in order maintain your skill and knowledge. By attaining your certification in Women’s CKM levels 1&2, you have the foundation to build upon. It is your responsibility to keep training and teaching. More advanced instructor certification levels will follow.

Question MarkWhat if I do not pass the final test?

You will be welcome to join upcoming Women’s CKM instructor courses free-of-charge and be re-tested.

Question MarkCan I take the course only for personal knowledge?

Yes! Participants are not required to become instructors. Many people take the course for self-knowledge. However, should you pass the test and decide to teach, you will get the support you need from CKM headquarters.

Question MarkIs there enough material in the seminar to teach over the course of a year?

Women’s CKM Level 1 and Level 2 are comprised of a total of 20 classes. Instructors will have the flexibility to run Level 1 and Level 2 courses as often as possible and concurrently, (though students must complete Level 1 before taking Level 2). Generally students will come to class once a week for the 10 weeks of Level 1 and once a week for the 10 weeks of Level 2. Instructors will have the option to teach one hour or 90 minute classes.

Certified CKM and ECF (Elite Combat Fitness) instructors will have greater flexibility to offer their students a variety of package deals. For example, A CKM instructor could allow a Women’s CKM student to also attend regular CKM classes. Or a certified ECF instructor could tack on an optional 30 minute ECF class to either the beginning or end of each Women’s CKM class so that students have choice to receive additional fitness training. This gives them the “one-stop shopping” option (they get their self-protection class and a tremendous workout at the same place and time, saving them the extra trip to the gym).

Question MarkAre there monthly licensing fees, grading fees or any other hidden fees??

There are no additional fees of any kind. The entire CKM system is based on quality control. Certified instructors are asked to maintain and improve upon their Women’s CKM skills. Instructors are also required to reach the next level in Women’s CKM within one year. We believe in helping all CKM instructors to become successful with the system.
